Streaming The Pianist Online
I’ve watched “The Pianist” twice since it’s 2002 release, and felt compelled to write a review after watching it tonight. This is a well-directed Holocaust movie by Roman Polanski, and the stellar acting by Adrien Brody [who deservedly won an Oscar for his role] makes “The Pianist” a truly memorable viewing experience.

The tale is based on the real-life experiences of Jewish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman [played by Adrien Brody] during the Nazi occupation of Warsaw in WW II. The movie follows him from his piano playing days at Polish Radio, through the restrictions imposed upon the Jews by the Nazis, the depart by Szpilman and his family to the Warsaw ghetto, how he is saved from deportation [whilst the rest of his family gets deported to Treblinka, an extermination camp], his role in the Jewish resistance movement, and finally his struggles in hiding on the Aryan side of Warsaw till war’s destroy.
The brutality of the Nazis is very effectively portrayed in this movie without being over-the-top - scenes of Nazi violence against the Jews are usually portrayed in brief but potent scenes, leaving an indelible designate in the viewer’s memory. One particular scene collected haunts me - the Nazis have selected a group of Jews for deportation [including four members of Szpilman's family] and a young woman innocently asks the SS officer in charge where they’re being taken. His response is a shot to her head - fair like that, and her only crime was to screech up. There are many poignant scenes that are heartrending in their portrayal of human suffering - a grieving young mother who is beside herself as she smothered her enjoy child to death to prevent the baby’s cries from being heard, bodies of Nazi victims including young children, and also one particularly disturbing scene where an passe man in a wheelchair is picked up by the Nazis [for being unable to stand up when the Nazis stomp into his family dinner] and thrown off the balcony. Though the scenes may appear random, the viewer is well aware that there was nothing random about the Nazis’ intent - that of decimating the Jews.

Adrien Brody as the pianist Szpilman effectively portrays a man who is tortured by his circumstances, yet bears all his suffering in silence - witnessing the atrocities around him, being separated from his family and learning of their tragic fates later, and being forced to endure the agony of incessant hunger whilst trying to pause alive. His indomitable spirit shines through in many scenes, especially the scene where he is asked by a German officer to play the piano - even in the midst of sizable hunger, and with fingers gnarled by sickness and starvation, Szpilman is able to play an achingly haunting share that would have done a concert pianist proud.
“The Pianist” is definitely a memorable Holocaust film - it even shows that not all Germans were monsters as exemplified by the humane German officer who helped Spzilman when he was in hiding. Though the movie evokes the horrors of the time it also captures the resilience of the human spirit under the most harrowing circumstances.
I enjoyed this movie very remarkable, and would recommend it. also study the review and the director done a top-notch job directing the movie the device it was. I would order from the same co. again.

What is contained in this Thinpak situation is the entire series of Boogiepop Phantom (BP) - 12 episodes on 4 DVDs - and the live-action film “Boogiepop and Others / Boogiepop Doesn’t Smile” (BaO) . In Japan, Boogiepop was spawned as a series of young adult novels. BaO was the first original released in the Boogiepop series, and the film is an adaptation of it. Therefor it is a prequel to BP. I originally watched the series first, but the 2nd time I watched the film then series. Watching BaO first is likely preferable, as it details the events that the BP is centered around. To view BP with no knowledge of BaO can be even more confusing than it already is.
BOOGIEPOP AND OTHERS / BOOGIEPOP DOESN’T SMILE
7 / 10

The film, like the series, tells multiple stories that intertwine concerning a central theme. Specifically, there’s 4 stories that revolve around the appearance of a monster known as the manticore, a unusual man known as Echoes, and Boogiepop herself. Boogiepop is a Shinigami, or the Japanese equivalent of Death. Boogiepop manifests as an alternate personality to an individual when dangers appear that threaten our world.
This film is relatively gross budget. You could call it the equivalent of a B-Movie. The special effects and action scenes are more silly than anything, and the sound and music has a very un-professional feel. That said, it’s surprisingly exquisite. The cheesiness is kept to a minimum as the focus remains on the characters. Don’t go into this expecting Hitchcock-like film mastery and it shouldn’t be too hard to be pleased. The young cast is the highlight. I especially liked Boogiepop herself and Nagi Kirima. The vision it paints of Japan is actually a nice one, especially the shots of Boogiepop on top of the buildings at sunset. I also obtain the pacing here well done. Each memoir has its acquire whisk, but at the same time It feels like a dependable progression towards the conclusion. Many animes could actually learn a lesson about flow, rhythm, and timing from this flash-less film.
The extras are nice and really extensive. They are perhaps better than the film itself (which can be taken as a salubrious or awful thing) . I especially enjoyed the “making of” featurette, as it appears the entire cast had a blast making the film. They include:
*History of Boogiepop
*Director’s Commentary
*Storyboards
*Boogiepop in Yubari
*Premier Featurette
*Making of Boogiepop Featurette
*Cast and Staff Bios
*Trailers
Overall, this is a quality adaptation of the original if one doesn’t reflect it on too harsh of standards. I’m contented it’s included as it’s really estimable in idea the Boogiepop universe before venturing into the difficult BP.
BOOGIEPOP PHANTOM
8 / 10
This series centers around the events at the slay of B&O, and its lingering effects. The “pillar of light” that was seen in that night’s sky gives multiple people uncommon abilities. With it came a rainbow-like haze that lingers over the city. An unsuitable creature is lurking among the population and teenagers are disappearing. Boogiepop appears out of the do of Toka Miyashita to hunt down the unleashed atrocious along with Nagi Kirima. Even more mysterious is the appearance of Phantoms - echoes of beings that already exist. One such is a Phantom of Boogiepop. Rumors swirl of an organization gradual the creation of beings known as composite humans. Memories of jumpy pasts plague the people of the city, including a serial killer that stalked the city 5 years ago. What does all of this mean for the students of two local schools including Shinyo Academy?
This is as bizarre an anime as there is. It has a Lain-like feel with its shaded, mysterious tone. While Lain is more abstract and psychedelic, BP more state and tangible - but don’t confuse this with simplicity. BP’s record is one of the most complex you’ll peep in anime. Like the film, it tells multiple stories in a fractured account - that never relies on linearity - that revolves around a central conception. These stories intertwine with others so you’ll sight glimpses of one within another from different points of views. Due to the wealth of stories, the cast is extremely tall. It can be very confusing to support up with characters, which makes remembering those who appear more than once difficult. However, BP is able to support the focus on (a) central character(s) at a time, which prevents it from becoming an incomprehensible mess. The most difficult aspect is determining where in the chronological context each legend and scene fits, but that’s also fragment of the fun.
To say the animation in BP is “recent” is an understatement. The entire series (keep one episode) is told with a vignette carry out - a sad circle around its edges. Along with it, is a drab and incredibly shrimp color palette. You’ll mostly view shades of brown, dismal, and white. This presentation is done on purpose, partly to originate a hazy dream world and a stark inequity with the finale. Where Lain relied on dark/light themes with vivid colors to accomplish a psychedelic, disconnected tone, BP uses its fill designate of minimalism to form a similar one. A blurry haze is current throughout and some scenes are so black as to invent it nearly impossible to whine what’s happening. Viewers will either treasure or abhor this style. While I really don’t care for it, it is completely unusual and quite effective. Such minimal animation and color means that there isn’t worthy beauty to be found in the visuals. But the trade-off is the noble atmosphere it creates.
The music is perhaps a customary point as there’s very exiguous of it. However, I really luxuriate in both the opening (especially) and ending themes. The sound, however, is the focus. Multiple effects are ragged to compose eerie sounds which work extremely well within the context of the visuals. The acting is well done (in the sub), if perhaps unspectacular. The dialogue can pick up a bit windy at times, and some of the themes are trite and shallow - “Why am I alive? We all objective die anyway.” for example. But it’s the stories, tone, and myth that sucks you in. There’s something extremely hypnotic about BP that I can’t quite build my finger on. It’s not so distinguished that I appreciate the series itself as I like being interested in the dream it creates. It’s been called a “fear”, but it’s not scary or ugly in the archaic sense. I really believe BP defies genre tags as I’m not determined what to effect it at all.
This is a series like Lain that viewers will likely either appreciate or disfavor. Noteworthy like Lain I found it as equally frustrating as it was engaging. The complex yarn and atmosphere the series creates is undoubtedly the highlights. I feel that BP resolves itself a bit better than Lain did, with fine pacing and sage create. However, I preferred Lain’s animation and depth of themes that it weaved into the chronicle. I consider I’d set the two on about equal ground, and which you capture would be entirely personal. I believe I slightly take Boogiepop Phantom as I found myself idea it better on the 2nd viewing, where worthy of Lain seems opaque for the sake of being obfuscatory.
The extras are minimal. There is director’s commentary and some music videos. But the best is the Production and Character notes on Disc 4. This details the many characters in BP and even provides a bit of an back for those who don’t know about the Boogiepop universe.
Overall, this is one of the truly recent works in the world of Anime. Its originality alone is a quality making it worth your time. In a world where most of anime has become stagnant, I thoroughly luxuriate in works like this that wreck the mold and stand out from all the banal imitations.
I have seen alot of capable anime this one is no exeption. This anime is very murky and mysterious but racy. This series may seem random, but, trust me, it will all accomplish sense in the ruin. It also has a hidden meaning in it as well. My only instruct to you is pay careful attention when watching this anime. It is confusing and sometimes it won’t earn sense to you at all, but if you hold watching the episodes you’ll regain it.

Well, I consider this is a really swell movie. Albert Finney and Carol Burnett crack me up, Aileen Quinn is exactly what Annie should be, and Sandy is perfect.

But WHY OH WHY is this not being offered in a widescreen format? I have yet to eye all of “It’s a Hard Knock Life” and I know those girls are knocking themselves out offscreen. I’ve seen this movie on three different media. All were pan and scan, and all three showed different parts of the report! The worst was a VHS release. (…)
I don’t know which is more frustrating about this anniversary dvd, the fact that it doesn’t offer widescreen, or the fact that the dvd menu and the special features demonstrate the movie clips in widescreen, teasing me with those brief glimpses.

There is no reason that dvd manufacturers shouldn’t at least OFFER a widescreen version. Let’s pick up with the 21st century already!
I can’t succor but wonder if ALL the widescreen prints of this movie were destroyed in a warehouse fire. Why would you bother to master another “Special Anniversary Edition” with a recent DTS soundtrack and not include a Wide conceal version? Especially with more and more widescreen TVs on the market. It is going to seek exquisite funny in a few years showing this pan and scanned musical on your widescreen TV. Kinda like a unfamiliar variation of REPULSION if re-written by Charles Manson. THE WITCH WHO CAME FROM THE SEA is about a timorous woman named Molly who had a dismal childhood thanks to her dad raping her nonstop. Now as a heavy drinkin’, pill poppin’ adult Molly has a few problems of her contain. The visions of mutilated corpses and the commercials telling her to ruin are gorgeous serious, but that’s nothing compared to her habit of hacking off men’s dongs with a razor!

You’d assume with a storyline like that that things would escalate until finally the film explodes into an orgy of blood, nudity and gore. Well, that’s at least what I was hoping for. Sadly things actually plain down as the movie goes on until finally at the extinguish I was getting sparkling dismal.
If you’re looking a film about female madness then stick with REPULSION, but if you want some psychotic sexy violence that’s gonna manufacture your eyes pop out then witness A CHINESE TORTURE CHAMBER Sage 1 & 2.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Witch Who Came From the Sea! Click Here
Also for all you fans of the Don Knotts/Tim Conway classic THE PRIVATE EYES check out Stan Ross in a brief scene as the tattoo artist Jack Dracula. He’s even on the befriend of the DVD case.
The poster art for “The Witch Who Came from the Sea”–which is reproduced in pretty color, but frustratingly cropped perform, on the conceal of the DVD–has absolutely nothing to do with the movie itself. “Witch” is not a apprehension film, but rather a scathing indictment of child sexual abuse which occasionally veers into horror-like territory.
Millie Perkins plays Molly, a spacy barmaid who idolizes men on TV, dotes on her two young nephews, and often recalls her slack, seafaring father with unnatural reverence. She also has horrible castration fantasies that she acts upon about fifteen minutes into the film(don’t disaster, I’m not giving away the movie’s major revelation here) . Perkins is really splendid in this role, and Lonny Chapman also gives a beautiful performance as her grizzled boyfriend.
What else works in this film? The plain, battered Venice Beach and Santa Monica place shots. The creepy soundtrack. Molly’s dismal, poor, repugnant flashbacks to childhood. What DOESN’T work is the dialogue. Robert Thom(Perkins’ husband at the time) wrote in the Ernest Hemingway-Rod Serling style; everyone in the film speaks exactly the same method, and they all sound so nutty that you’ll often be left scratching your head in frustration. I assume that Thom was going for a folksy, man-and-woman-on-the-street feel(for 1976), but the language comes off as goofy and stilted. That said, peep the film anyway–it really is worth it. You’ll never, ever forget “Witch”. (Without giving anything away, the final scene is fabulous, almost perfect.)
Extras include commentary by Perkins, director Matt Cimber, and cinematographer Dean Cundey; interviews with the same; and trailers for some other movies. What’s really keen about the film itself is that there are two or three scenes which I never saw on the musty VHS print I customary to rent. Brace yourself before you peer this; obviously the film is not proper for children, but many adults will collect it extraordinarily bad as well.

Buy Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride DVD
Compare Prices on Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride
Tim Burton’s mind must be a very curious site. Remember, it’s where if you commit suicide you have to work for social services in the afterlife (Ref: Beetlejuice) . I’m a social worker, so I know what that means! Men with hands made of scissors, Jack Nicholson as Batman’s foil…this is one sick puppy of a director.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride! Click Here
So when you hear Mr. Burton is directing a film based on an Eastern European folktale in which one of the heroines-the heroines, mind you—is a corpse….well, family fare is not what comes to mind.
And, although it’s spirited, Corpse Bride definitely is not for the younger station, 9 or so and below. These characters peer creepy. The title character has a habit of losing her study and talking to the maggot, Louie, who lives leisurely it. Skeletons of dogs and people gallop and talk about in the “underworld”.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride! Click Here
However, like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, older children will pick up the animations comic and fascinating; and parents will be overjoyed with the messages packaged in the film.
Briefly, “Corpse Bride” is an bright operetta in which Victor (voiced by Johnny Depp), son of fishmongers, is engaged to Victoria, (Emily Watson) the daughter of nobles who are now penniless. Neither know each other but meet accidentally and descend in treasure. When Victor stumbles over his complicated wedding vows at the rehearsal, he’s humiliated by a stranger at the wedding (Richard E. Grant) and walks in the woods to practice. When he says the vows, he places the ring on a “twig” that turns out to be the finger of Emily (Helena Bonham-Carter), the Corpse Bride, who of course jumps up and happily informs him they are married. (She’s very graceful, by the method, humdrum or not) .
Much of the rest of the movie is taken up by Victor trying to figure out how to glean out from the Underworld and by Emily trying to either dispute he’s doing that or actively convince him to halt. Gradually, however, Victor finds, to his surprise, that he is falling in fancy with Emily.
In the kill the viewers have heard some expedient lessons about care for, and the main characters, primarily Emily and Victor, have each been willing to sacrifice greatly for the other, out of their fancy for each other. The importance of wedding vows is a central theme, and Victor especially gives long concept to whom his alliances lie, given what he’s promised, and to whom. And those motivated by greed, such as Richard Grant’s character, mostly advance out empty handed.
The comedy is knowing. In one scene, Emily’s friends in the “pub” do a number quite reminiscent of the Star Wars cantina scene, given the odd-looking musicians. I’m not obvious how well the “operetta” mode works with animation; while claymation gives these characters terrific means of expression, they are quiet tiny in their ability to emote, and musical theatre may be best left to human faces. Composed, Danny Elfman’s fetch is shapely as always.
Leave the wee ones with the other parent next door at “March of the Penguins” or “Wallace and Gromit: Search for the Were-Rabbit”, then huddle with the rest of the kids to perceive this fantastic film.
Corpse Bride was the first Blu-Ray movie I couldn’t wait to leer. I had it on DVD and viewed it many times and as I knew the movie inside and out, along with the issues with displaying the SD DVD on my HD TV, I was mad to be able to design a side by side comparison between the 2 releases.
Corpse Bride on Blu-Ray completely blows the other Blu-Ray movies I possess out of the water in terms of authoring. The clarity of the image is fantastic and the contrast between DVD and Blu-Ray is made overly apparent when you can do a comparison of the 2 directly.
In the Blu-Ray release of CB you can ogle the texture of the puppets’ faces, something certainly lacking in the DVD. You can also study in the skeleton dance scene some of the metal bits holding the puppets together. On the DVD you can spy it but it is difficult or nearly impossible to insist what the luminous share is.
As far as the movie, it’s a mammoth adore chronicle in Tim Burton’s typical zigzag fashion.
Definitely worth checking out as a movie but also expedient of checking out what Blu-Ray is obliging of.

Movie Title: Kitty Foyle Kitty Foyle is available for streaming or downloading. |
Ginger Rogers was very approved, both within the Hollywood community, and with the moviegoing public. With two strong performances in 1940, she took home the Oscar despite strong competition. Rogers perfectly captured the dilema of every American girl who worked for a living. Her portrayel of a young woman having to determine between a young woman’s daydream of what worship would be like and the proper thing is flawless. Sam Wood directed this very attractive film based on Christopher Morley’s accepted book.

Ginger is Kitty Foyle, a career girl from Philadelphia who falls for her boss, Wyn Strafford (Dennis Morgan), in what she thinks is everything she’s dreamed about all her life. Wood ragged a snowglobe as a transitional scheme to Kitty’s flashbacks of their romance, unprejudiced as George Stevens had archaic a phonograph in Penny Serenade the previous year. Kitty and Wyn are no longer together, their brief marriage ending in divorce when it finally becomes positive to Kitty that her Irish American moxie can not overcome Wyn’s old-money family in their Darby Mill–Griscom Street romance.
Kitty has moved on and has a chance for something right with a young but awful doctor portrayed by James Craig. But it is a down to earth and more practical cherish, and when Wyn suddenly appears to engage her away once more, but not as his wife, she must resolve which path to decide. As she packs to race away with Wyn, she argues with her conscience and remembers.

Ernest Cossart is very capable as Kitty’s pop, trying to steer her in the good direction. He may have been born four drinks below par, as Kitty affectionately teases him, but he is wise enough to study Wyn’s old-fashioned character, which will never allow him to demolish from his society family and perform a precise life with his daughter. Kitty will face two tragedies simultaneously in this warm and sentimental anecdote of an American working girl trying to have it all.
Rogers did deserve the Oscar because she is everything in this film. She may have been the only actress around who could have so readily been current to characterize an entire generation of young women during the 1940’s. They viewed her as one of their occupy, even though the glamour of Hollywood was fragment of her chronicle as well. She was the American girl made edifying, and her performance here is flawless.
A ravishing ending showed not only Kitty’s Irish American moxie, but her growth and maturity as well. This is a sparkling film with a terrific performance from Ginger Rogers that is very considerable a product of the era it was made. A blooming get from Roy Webb adds to this gentle account of letting the dream of savor go in favor of the actual thing. A must beget for Ginger’s fans and a agreeable one for film buffs to add to their collection.
Any best actress oscar winner of 1940 would have been controversial. I believe Ginger deserved it as well as any of the others. She is extraordinary in this drama, and she portrays KItty with a distinct realness. study her facial expressions. I gain that Ginger had the most expressive and resplendent eyes in hollywood history. after losing her baby in childbirth, kitty’s inspect on her face whenever she sees a child afterwards is devestating. the whole cast is aesthetic, and you could slash Gin and Dennis Morgan’s chemistry with a knife. Ginger had a curious power to bring out so grand chemistry from all her leading men. In the early scenes, she is adorable as minute kitty. I don’t bear that this is a soap opera, because the situations are NOT ridiculous and the characters are very right, but nevertheless it is a heavier type of drama, so don’t query a SWING TIME-like experience, and hold the tissues handy. I highly recommend this film, not only for Ginger’s performance, but for the movie as a whole.

Although this film was released on home video in the U.S. in 1984 as “Taro the Dragon Boy” (five years after it appeared in Japanese theaters in 1979), not many people seem to remember it, which is a shame, as it is one of the best anime films I’ve ever seen. I rented the English-dubbed version, helmed by the legendary Peter Fernandez (also worked on the English dubs of “Bustle Racer” and “Superbook”), on video from my video store on several occasions as a child, and was awestruck. Taro is a much young man - he possesses stout strength and an huge appetite, but he also has a heart of gold, and the object of his quest is to come by his mother, Katsu, who was changed into a dragon many years ago. (One scene which made a mammoth impression on me is the scene in which Taro and the villagers are feasting after Taro defeated a demon who was threatening the village, and Taro - who has an appetite to rival Garfield’s - can’t be pleased the celebration because he keeps thinking of the folks succor in his home village who have nothing to eat. That shows what a pure, profitable heart he has.) This film holds up very well even to this day. The animation is remarkably fluid given that the film is now over a quarter-century stale, and the music is also very well-done. There are even vocal songs, which were dubbed into English for the U.S. release along with the dialogue, and they’re also dazzling advantageous, even in English; the dialogue is also well-written and well-dubbed. The ending will absolutely have you in tears. If you can pick up a stale copy of this film on VHS, by all means bewitch it up. It’s a accurate classic. (Incidentally, despite the Japanese title, “Tatsu no ko Taro,” this animation was NOT produced by Tatsunoko Production, but by Toei Animation, which later became internationally noted for “Dragonball,” “Sailor Moon,” and “One Share.”)
This was a movie I grew up watching.

Perhaps it is fair as well that this is grainy and sometimes out of focus, because the scenes are so horrifying. The documentary was made by the U.S. Government as an overview of what American soldiers found when they liberated Nazi concentration camps. It would have been extremely difficult to counterfeit any of the scenes.

This palatable and insightful film from German director Doris Dorrie (Enlightenment Guaranteed) demonstrates, in the tradition of substantial Buddhist teachings, the marvel of life that is and always has been upright under your nose, legal at your fingertips, moral there waiting for you to really gaze it, really feel it, really smell and taste it.

Ostensibly a profile of American Soto Zen priest Edward Espe Brown, for 30 years the head cook of the California Tassajara Zen Center, the film is in the demolish more about how we picture to food, and ultimately how we narrate to life. In Japan’s Soto Zen tradition, cooking is more than impartial feeding the monks. It’s about discontinuance attention to detail. It’s about respect for the develop of the Earth. In the process, its as powerful about preparing yourself as it is a meal.
13th century Japanese Zen master Dogen elevated the station of cook within his monasteries to reach the importance of the abbot. He saw in the handling and preparation of food a means for cooks to practice mindfulness, and through careful attention to detail hold the health and morale of the monastic community. He wrote a treatise on the subject, Instructions to the Tenzo, that is detached studied in Soto Zen monasteries. In fact you’ll observe in the film some of the cooks at Tassajara studying this very text.

These days Edward Espe Brown leads cooking, health and meditation seminars in the US and Europe, at which noteworthy of the footage for this film was shot. Director Dorrie doesn’t afraid from showing us more than the wise, Zen-master side of her subject, including segments in which Brown loses his temper with his students, as well as with a plastic wrapper and a bottler stopper. As he remarks to a class at the beginning of the film, he may have been practicing Zen for 40 years, but he’s mild a human being subject to nervousness and alarm at the beginning of each original retreat. He notes as well that he mild makes mistakes, that mistakes are fraction of the process of cooking, as they are with life. Perfection, he adds, is to be found in the peril.
While not a kinesthetic subject, Dorrie does a grand job of keeping the viewer’s attention by mixing up shots and breaking the film up into thematic units. Except for a microscopic diversion on the homeless and a woman who survives by living off supermarket discards, Dorrie remains tightly focused. The understated jazz soundtrack is perfect accompaniment to themes of spontaneity and authenticity.
You won’t reach away from this film with a handful of recent recipes, but you might have a unusual respect for cooking and the practice of mindfulness.
#
Intriguing, comical and stout of Zen moments. This documentary has profound depth- on the surface the film appears to be about cooking but the koan of the film is without a clear retort. One can win oneself exploring awareness, stillness, meditation, ritual and even cooking. Roshi Ed Brown encourages us to see food as a metaphor. I was touched when he was examining the feeble teapot.
What’s cooking? I consider I got it!

It’s very advantageous. My Granddaughter really loves this and all the others od Dora’s the Explorer.
My 2 year-old daughter and I couldn’t wait for this one to originate it to TV, so we borrowed it from our library, and I’m determined contented we did! In the double-length title episode, Dora is once again on a storybook adventure, this time helping to withhold the Crystal Kingdom’s splendid colors by retrieving its four magic crystals from a greedy king. This episode establish a lot of emphasis on sharing, always a celebrated theme for the preschool crowd, and followed the usual format and the same passe, beloved cast of characters. My daughter was really exasperated when the Snow Princess made a few brief appearances, while I greatly enjoyed Richard Kind (Paul from Lag City) doing the scream of the greedy king. I did have to roll my eyes when Dora and Boots got butterfly wings, envisioning the inevitable marketing of butterfly-winged Dora dolls for Christmas, but as my daughter belief that allotment was “awesome” I guess I can’t complain too distinguished.

The other two adventures included on this DVD are both ample episodes too - one about Boots and Tico’s first day of school, and the other a King Midas-like account about a wish machine that makes bananas fall on Boots’ head every time he says “bananas.” Overall, a gigantic, fun novel Dora DVD!
